The Beauty Changes Lives Foundation is Changing the Lives of Young Beauty Professionals

In 2010, Millennium launched the Don’t Just Be initiative and it has been a huge success.  The goal was to inspire the beauty industry,  embodying the philosophies of relevant icons who have done great things.

Through our journey, Millennium has learned about many incredible people who bring positivity to their salons and give back to the community on a regular basis.  In turn the Be-Cause was born; the cause to be more and Millennium is leading the way by hosting our first ever Be-Cause Charity Kick-Off event in NYC on March 5th, 2011, the weekend of the IBS Show.  With the gracious support of beauty icon, Philip Pelusi, the event will be held at his New York City salon / design studio, Tela Studio. Its unique location in the meat packing district and close proximity to the Javits Center makes it an ideal venue.

Millennium has partnered with the Beauty Changes Lives Foundation. Beauty Changes Lives (BCL) is a non-profit organization founded by the AACS (American Association of Cosmetology Schools). It is focused on raising awareness of careers in the beauty and wellness industry and the opportunities these careers present. Prior, during and post the Be-Cause NYC March event the BCL will be raising funds for scholarship programs to benefit new students entering the beauty industry, as well as advanced education programs for licensed beauty professionals. It’s a great cause and this event is great way to support the industry.  Below is more information from Lynelle Lynch who is a BCL board member and is the President & Owner of Bellus Academy. She provides additional insight about BCL and what their vision and goals are.  For more information about the BCL go to www.beautychangeslives.org and for more on the event go to www.harms-software.com/be.

BEAUTY CHANGES LIVES” PROGRAM – Salons Get Involved!

The Beauty and Wellness Industry touches everyone’s life YET the profession has not achieved the recognition it DESERVES as A premier career.

The American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) celebrates all Beauty and Wellness professionals with the launch of Beauty Changes Lives our national initiative to raise the awareness and perception of the extraordinary values of a career in Beauty.

Unlike ANY other profession, a Beauty and Wellness career offers a wide range of benefits from flexible schedules to significant financial and personal rewards yet based on a national survey the perception of our Industry is one of instability and minimal benefits.

Compelling is the US Bureau of Labor Statistics who projects that beauty industry jobs will grow by 20 percent from 2008 to 2018 significantly better than most other industries.  We want to share this message and tremendous career opportunities afforded to those that have a Beauty School License!

What is Beauty Change Lives?

Beauty Changes Lives (BCL) is a non-profit organization founded by AACS, focused on raising awareness of careers in the beauty and wellness industry, and the tremendous opportunities these careers present. We will also be raising funds for our scholarship programs to benefit new students entering the beauty industry, as well as advanced education programs for licensed beauty professionals. In addition, our fundraising efforts will go to our philanthropic efforts, including the fight against domestic violence, which is the primary cause adopted by the AACS Board of Directors

BCL is honored to have the internationally acclaimed celebrity hairstylist Ted Gibson as the spokesman for BCL. Mr. Gibson debuted as the keynote for BCL at the AACS annual convention in 2009 which was the catalyst for the formation of the BCL initiative.  Mr. Gibson’s charismatic personality combined with his tremendous success made him the perfect leader to launch BCL and to pursue our mission of raising the awareness of the extraordinary opportunities offered to those who choose a career in Beauty and Wellness.

Salons GET Involved!

To fulfill our mission of branding the careers of beauty and wellness as a premier career all companies and individuals can participate. Identify a product where a percentage of the proceeds go to BCL; add the BCL logo to all ads – Create a month long campaign to share the message.  Log onto BCL web site and become a Facebook fan – tell your story – add the BCL the video on your web site – buy the collateral and give buttons to all of your staff. Mention BCL in all activities and have it become a center piece of conversation. Utilize the BCL video in all trainings to share the passion for the Industry – There are numerous ideas here and I challenge the Industry to become creative and support the cause! In addition, salons can save money and donate at the same time through the innovative program Dollars for Donations.  Contact chuck@dollarsfordonations.com for more information.

BCL can promote a universal message to the general public that will benefit the entire professional beauty industry.

Beauty changed my life.
